BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Joshua Higgins has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Higgins finished 13th in the 800-meter run at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held this past weekend at Dartmouth College. The Fitchburg, Massachusetts product posted a career-best time of 1:52.88 in the event.

Higgins currently ranks 32nd in all of Division III in the 800-meter run.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the sixth of the 2017-2018 academic year for Higgins. He also earned the distinction five times during the indoor season.

In upcoming action, several members of the BSU outdoor track & field teams will compete on Thursday at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier.
