Carlson, Johnson, Moore Garner All-New England Honors at DIII New Englands

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.), sophomore Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and freshman Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) garnered All-New England honors to highlight day two of the 2018 Division III New England Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by MIT on Friday.

Carlson placed third in the decathlon with an overall score of 5,387 points. During today's events, Carlson tallied 645 points in the pole vault as he equaled his own school record with a vault of 13 feet, 5.25 inches (4.10m). He also notched 579 points in the 110-meter hurdles (17.44), 562 points in the discus (34.93m), 542 points in the javelin (46.86m) and 300 points in the 1,500-meter run (5:51.35).

Carlson's top finish was in both the discus and the javelin as he placed first in each event. He also placed second in the pole vault and fifth in both the hurdles and the 1,500.

On Thursday, Carlson notched 639 points in the 100-meter dash (12.06), 610 points in the shot put (39'6.75"/12.06m), 539 points in the 400-meter dash (56.53), 488 points in the high jump (5'4.25"/1.63m) and 483 points in the long jump (18'0.5"/5.5m).

Johnson placed fourth in the discus, while Moore finished sixth in the long jump. Johnson posted school-record toss of 157 feet (47.86m) in the discus as he eclipsed Stephan Cawley's previous BSU mark of 156 feet, seven inches (47.73m) set in 2014. Moore checked in with a leap of a 22 feet, one inch (6.73m) in the long jump.

The third and final day of the Division III New England Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will get underway on Saturday morning at ten.
