WORCESTER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) competed at the Holy Cross Decathlon on Wednesday.

Carlson posted a score of 2,778 points over the first five events as he is currently in ninth place out of a field of 12 decathletes after day one and third among the Division III competitors. 

Carlson notched 629 points in the 100-meter dash (12.11), 600 points in the shot put (39'0.25"/11.89m), 520 points in the high jump (5'5.75"/1.67m), 517 points in the 400-meter dash (57.11) and 512 points in the long jump (18'6.5"/5.65m). His times in both the 100 and 400 were both personal bests.

The final five events of the Holy Cross Decathlon will take place on Friday.
