Men's Track & Field Captures UMD Corsair Classic Title

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team won the team title at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic held on Saturday.

The Bears posted a score of 195 points to edge host UMass for the meet championship. The Corsairs finished second with 194 points, while Plymouth State University rounded out the top three with 89.5 points.

Seniors Joseph Kisamore (Attleboro, Mass.), Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) and Zack Viera (Fairhaven, Mass.), and junior Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) each captured top honors in their respective events. Kisamore finished first in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.07), Kotleski in the 400-meter hurdles (57.95), Viera in the 800-meter run (2:00.15) and Carlson in the pole vault (12'5.5"/3.80m).

The Bears' foursome of juniors Alex Goss (North Dighton, Mass.) and Louis Walusimbi (Woburn, Mass.), senior Colin Knapton (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and sophomore Kyle Cordeiro (Westport, Mass.) placed first in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.17.

Junior Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event with a time of 9:50.03.

Sophomore Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) finished second in the discus with a toss of 132 feet, three inches (40.30m). Junior Brandon Houle (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) placed second (174'0"/53.03m) and third (173'1"/52.76m), respectively, in the javelin. Houle qualified for DIII New Englands in the event.

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University.
