Higgins Places 4th in 800 at NEICAAA Championships

DORCHESTER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) placed fourth in the finals of the 800-meter run at the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday.

Higgins, who was the only Division III student-athlete in the finals, posted a career indoor-best time of 1:53.99 as he bettered his preliminary time (1:55.96) by nearly three seconds. Higgins garnered All-NEICAAA honors by placing in the top eight.

Senior Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) placed 13th in the triple jump with a career indoor-best leap of 46 feet, six inches (14.17m).

The BSU men's indoor track & field team tied for 21st place in the team standings with five points.

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by Rhode Island College.
