Winsper Earns Javelin Gold, Shot Put Silver at U.S. Paralympics National Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Bridgewater State University freshman Joshua Winsper (Rochester, Mass.) earned gold in the javelin and silver in the shot put at the 2017 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships held this weekend at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA.

Winsper placed first in the javelin for the F41 classification with a personal-best toss of 88 feet, seven inches (27.01 meters). He also hit the qualifying standard in the event for the World Para Athletics Championships.

Winsper recorded a mark of 27 feet, ten inches (8.48 meters) in the shot put to place second in the event for the F41 classification. He has hit the qualifying standard in the shot put for the World Para Athletics Championships multiple times throughout this season including this weekend.

The 2017 World Para Athletics Championships will take place from July 14-23 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England. Selections for Team USA will come out later this week.
