Lamont Haynes Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete & Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Lamont Haynes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Haynes garnered All-New England honors in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay at the Division III New England Championships held this past weekend at Williams College.

Haynes placed third in the 400 with a time of 48.76 seconds. He also ran a leg on BSU's 4x400-meter relay squad which posted a school-record time of 3:19.85 to finish in second place.

The Bears' relay, featuring Haynes, classmates Joshua Higgins (Foxboro, Mass.) and Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.), and junior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.), eclipsed their own previous BSU outdoor mark of 3:20.24 set at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.

Qualifying members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Association Championships hosted by Williams on Friday and Saturday of this week. Haynes will be competing in the 400 at the meet.
