Haynes, Williamson Earn All-New England Honors at NEICAAA Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) and junior Cameron Williamson (North Easton, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors during the second and final day of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College on Saturday.

Haynes placed sixth in the finals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.25 seconds. On Friday, Haynes eclipsed his own school mark with a preliminary time of 48.32 seconds. He is currently ranked 26th in all of Division III in the 400.

Williamson finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 3.25 inches (14.10m).

Sophomore Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) added a ninth place performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:41.73), while freshman Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) finished 14th in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 43 feet, six inches (13.26m).

The Bears' 4x800-meter relay squad featuring freshmen Jacob Connor (Plymouth, Mass.), Alex Casey (Franklin, Mass.) and William McKenzie (Attleboro, Mass.), and junior Michael Sanpietro (South Easton, Mass.) placed 12th at the meet with a time of 8:29.44.

Bridgewater finished in a tie for 23rd place in the team standings with seven points.

Several members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will compete at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday of next week.
