ROXBURY, Mass. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team competed during day one of the 49th Annual New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships held on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
The two-day meet features competition from Divisions I, II and III in New England.
Freshman Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) placed sixth in the preliminaries of the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:05.94. Higgins, who will compete in the finals on Saturday, was less than 5/10 of a second off Josh Goehring's BSU indoor record of 1:05.49 set in 2013.
Freshman Lamont Haynes (BOston, Mass.) added an 11th place finish in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 49.93 seconds.
Day two of the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will get underway on Saturday morning at ten.
