Men's Track & Field Competes at Tufts Stampede

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field competed at the non-scoring Tufts Stampede on Saturday.

Freshman Kyle Cordeiro (Westport, Mass.) placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (52.10) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (23.31).

Sophomore Alex Goss (North Dighton, Mass.) finished seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.38) and eighth in the finals of the 60-meter dash (7.24).

Juniors Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) and Joseph Kisamore (Attleboro, Mass.), and freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) each placed ninth in their respective events. Kotleski in the 400-meter dash (53.17), Kisamore in the 1,000-meter run (2:38.87) and Haynes in the 600-meter run (1:25.30). Haynes qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 600.

Freshman Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) added a tenth place performance in the mile run (4:40.17).

In the throwing events, junior Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) finished sixth overall in the shot put with a career-best toss of 46 feet, 7.25 inches (14.20m), while junior Austin James (Mansfield, Mass.) placed eighth in the event with a mark of 43 feet, 9.25 inches (13.34m).

Freshman Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) checked in with a ninth place showing in the weight throw with a DIII New England qualifying distance of 45 feet, 11.75 inches (14.01m). Sophomore Austin Maskell (Weymouth, Mass.) was right behind in tenth place with a throw of 44 feet, 7.5 inches (13.60m).

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational II.
