Men's Track & Field Competes at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 800-meter run with a Division III New England qualifying time of 1:57.92.

Junior Joseph Kisamore (Attleboro, Mass.) also qualified for DIII New Englands in the 800 as he posted a time of 1:59.99 to finish fourth overall at the meet.

Freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) placed second and qualified for both DIII New Englands and the NEICAAA Championships in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.65 seconds.

Haynes currently ranks 28th in all of Division III in the 400.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay squad featuring Higgins, Haynes, junior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) and freshman Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) finished third overall with a time of 3:26.07. The foursome currently rank 20th in all of Division III in the event.

Sophomore Austin Maskell (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Spencer Geary (Marlborough, Mass.) each placed third in their respective events. Maskell recorded a toss of 44 feet, 1.25 inches (13.44m) in the weight throw, while Geary posted a mark of ten feet (3.05m) in the pole vault.

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Tufts Stampede.
