Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at UMass Boston Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's track & field team opened the indoor season at the non-scoring UMass Boston Invitational held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday.

Freshman Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.51 seconds. Haynes also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash (23.11).

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay squad featuring Haynes, junior Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) and freshmen Kyle Cordeiro and Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) won the meet title with a time of 3:25.64.

Freshman Michael Donovan (Holliston, Mass.) finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 1.75 inches (13.15m).

Junior Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) placed sixth in the shot put with a personal best distance of 45 feet, 9.25 inches (13.95m)

Freshman Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) added a third-place showing in the 1,000-meter run (2:38.36).

The Bears are off until Saturday, January 14th when they compete at the Tufts Invitational.
