Men's Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at UMB Invitational

ROXBURY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track and field team competed at the season-opening UMass Boston Invitational on Saturday held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Senior Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) placed second in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.05 seconds. Couture also finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 9.07 seconds.

Couture qualified for DIII New Englands, the NEICAAA Championships and the ECAC Championships in the 60-meter dash. He also qualified for DIII New England in the hurdles with his preliminary time of 9.00 seconds.

Senior Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.) placed third in the 600-meter run (1:23.06), while sophomore Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.54).

Sawyer and Kotleski both qualified for DIII New Englands, while Sawyer also qualified for the NEICAAA Championships.

Sophomore Cameron Williamson (Easton, Mass.) added a fifth place showing in the triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 4.25 inches (13.52 meters). Williamson qualified for DIII New England and the ECAC Championships in the triple jump.

The Bears are off until January 16th when they compete at the Tufts Invitational.
