Conor Murtagh Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week and sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

A native of Walpole, Massachusetts, Murtagh garnered All-NEICAAA honors and broke his own school record in the 110-meter hurdles at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships held this past weekend at Southern Connecticut State University.

Murtagh placed second in the finals of the hurdles with a time of 14.13 seconds as he eclipsed his previous mark of 14.17 seconds set last season at the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Bears' four-time All-American (two indoor, two outdoor) currently ranks third in all of Division III in the hurdles.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 21st of Murtagh's impressive career including ten outdoor distinctions.

In addition to his outdoor 110-meter hurdle record, Murtagh also holds school indoor marks in both the 55-meter hurdles (7.69) and the 60-meter hurdles (7.96).

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, qualifying members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team will be competing at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
