Men's Indoor Track & Field Competes at Wheaton, BU

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at both the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic and the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.

At Boston University, senior Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) placed 11th in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.25 seconds.

The non-scoring meet, which took place at BU's stellar banked track and indoor facility, featured strong competition from several top Division I, II and III schools from around the region as well as local track clubs.

Senior Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.), the reigning MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week, finished 21st in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:06.16, while classmate Chinedu Chukwu (Randolph, Mass.) tied for 26th in the 60-meter dash (7.06) and sophomore Cameron Williamson (Easton, Mass.) placed 24th in the triple jump (43'10.75"/13.38m).

Freshman Nick Costa (Carver, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top finishers at the BU meet as he placed 51st overall in the 1,000-meter run (2:37.65).

Senior Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) paced the Bears at the Wheaton Invitational as he captured top honors in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 23.53 seconds. Couture also finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.13).

Freshman Tyler Keeley (Halifax, Mass.) added a second place showing in the 400-meter dash (54.38), while classmate Joseph Keough (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) each finished third, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run (16:40.10) and the shot put (42'4.25"/12.91m).

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
