Murtagh, Couture Lead Men's Track & Field at AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Seniors Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) and Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) each won events to lead the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team at the 6th Annual Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by AIC on Saturday.

Murtagh placed first and set a new track record in the 110-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.68 seconds. Murtagh currently ranks fifth in all of Division III in the event.

Couture grabbed top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.66 seconds. He also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a season-best mark of 11.07 seconds. Couture qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 100.

Senior Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) finished second in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:55.16. Goehring qualified in the event for DIII New Englands as well as the ECAC Division III Championships.

Sophomore Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 55.94 seconds. Kotleski qualified for the ECAC Championships in the hurdles.

Senior Chinedu Chukwu (Randolph, Mass.) finished seventh in the 100-meter dash with a DIII New England qualifying time of 11.26 seconds, while sophomore Cameron Williamson (Easton, Mass.) placed tenth in the triple jump (42'11"/13.08m).

Bridgewater State finished in seventh place in the team standings with 52 points. Southern Maine captured the meet title with 77 points. AIC (71.20 pts.) and Franklin Pierce (61.20 pts.) rounded out the top three.

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University.
