Conor Murtagh Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Murtagh garnered All-ECAC honors with a third place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships this past weekend.  The Walpole, Massachusetts product posted a BSU outdoor record time of 14.57 seconds in the finals as he eclipsed his own previous standard of 14.69 seconds set just recently at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAA) Championships.

Murtagh qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 110-meter high hurdles as he is ranked ninth nationally in the event.  The national championship meet will take place from Thursday, May 22nd to Saturday, May 24th at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.

The preliminaries of the 110-meter high hurdles is slated for 6:45 PM on Friday evening with the finals on Saturday afternoon at 2:40.

This marks the second time this season that Murtagh has received the MASCAC weekly honor.  He was also selected as the conference’s track athlete of the week back on April 22nd for his performance at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.

Murtagh also competed in NCAA postseason play back in the fall for the BSU men’s soccer team. He was named MVP of the MASCAC Tournament as he helped the Bears’ capture the conference title and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
