BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Conor Murtagh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Murtagh broke his own school record in the 110-meter high hurdles as he placed sixth in the event with a time of 14.74 seconds at the non-scoring Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University this past weekend. The Walpole, Massachusetts native eclipsed his previous mark of 14.80 seconds set the previous weekend at the ECSU Invitational.

Through five meets this outdoor season, Murtagh currently ranked tenth in all of Division III in the 110-meter high hurdles.  He has qualified for all three regional postseason meets in the event.

This past winter, Murtagh garnered both All-ECAC and All-New England Division III honors in the 60-meter hurdles.  He also set the Bears' indoor marks in both the 55-meter hurdles (7.69) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.25).

The 2014 season continues for Murtagh and his teammates on Saturday when the Bears compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
