Joshua Danner-Hicks Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the third straight week, Bridgewater State University senior Joshua Danner-Hicks has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Danner-Hicks placed third at the ECAC Division III Championships in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 0.75 inches (14.60 meters) as he garnered All-ECAC honors.

Danner-Hicks qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the triple jump as he is ranked seventh in the event.  He recorded his school record and NCAA qualifying mark of 48 feet, two inches (14.68 meters) earlier this month at the Division III New England Championships.

The national championship meet will take place from Thursday, May 22nd to Saturday, May 24th at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.  The triple jump competition is slated to get underway on Saturday at noon.

An eight-time MASCAC triple jump champion (four indoor, four outdoor), Danner-Hicks has been selected as the conference's field athlete of the week an impressive ten times (four outdoor, six indoor) during the 2013-2014 academic year.

This past winter, Danner-Hicks earned All-American honors in the triple jump by placing sixth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with a mark of 47 feet, 2.50 inches (14.39 meters). He also set the BSU indoor record in the triple jump earlier in the year at the ECAC Division III Championships with a distance of 48 feet, six inches (14.78 meters).

In 2013, Danner-Hicks qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with his then school mark of 47 feet, seven inches.  He would go on to place 15th at the national meet.
