Joshua Danner-Hicks Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the third straight week, Bridgewater State University senior Joshua Danner-Hicks has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Danner-Hicks  broke his own school record in the triple jump with a meet-best leap of 48 feet (14.63 meters) to help lead the Bears' to the New England Alliance title this past weekend.  TYhe Haverhill, Massachusetts native eclipsed his previous standard of 47 feet, seven inches (14.50 meters) set last season.

Through six meets this outdoor season, Danner-Hicks is currently ranked sixth in all of Division III in the triple jump.

This past winter, Danner-Hicks earned All-American honors in the triple jump by placing sixth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with a mark of 47 feet, 2.50 inches (14.39 meters). The eight-time MASCAC champion (four indoor, four outdoor) also set the BSU indoor record in the triple jump earlier in the year at the ECAC Division III Championships with a distance of 48 feet, six inches (14.78 meters).

In 2013, Danner-Hicks qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with his then school mark of 47 feet, seven inches.  He would go on to place 15th at the national meet.

Regional postseason play gets underway next weekend when qualifying member of the BSU men's track & field team compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Springfield College.  Danner-Hicks has qualified for DIII New Englands in the 100, 200 and triple jump.
