Joshua Danner-Hicks Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior Joshua Danner-Hicks has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Danner-Hicks placed first in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 47 feet 4.5 inches (14.44 meters) at the Eric Loeschner Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University this past weekend. The Haverhill, Massachusetts native helped the Bears finish second in the team standings at the meet.

Through five meets this outdoor season, Danner-Hicks is currently ranked ninth in all of Division III in the triple jump.

In 2013, Danner-Hicks set the BSU outdoor program mark in the triple jump at the MASCAC Championships with a leap of 47 feet, seven inches (14.50).  He also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships and placed 15th at the national meet.

This past winter, Danner-Hicks earned All-American honors in the triple jump by placing sixth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with a mark of 47 feet, 2.50 inches (14.39 meters). The seven-time MASCAC champion (four indoor, three outdoor) also set the BSU indoor record in the triple jump earlier in the year at the ECAC Division III Championships with a distance of 48 feet, six inches (14.78 meters).

The outdoor season continues for Danner-Hicks and the BSU men's track and field team on Saturday when the Bears compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
