Joshua Danner-Hicks Named MASCAC Men's Outdoor Field Co-Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior Joshua Danner-Hicks has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Co-Athlete of the Week.  Danner-Hicks shares the weekly along with Westfield State University sophomore Travon Godette.

Danner-Hicks garnered top honors and set the meet record in the triple jump at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational this past weekend.  The Haverhill, Massachusetts native posted a leap of 46 feet, 10.75 inches (14.29 meters) as he helped the Bears capture first place in the team standings.  He also placed third in the 200-meter dash (22.77) and qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event.

Through four meets, Danner-Hicks is currently ranked eighth in all of Division III in the triple jump with a mark of 47 feet, 0.75 inches (14.33) recorded earlier this season at the Tufts Snowflake Classic.

Last season, Danner-Hicks set the BSU outdoor program mark in the triple jump at the MASCAC Championships with a leap of 47 feet, seven inches (14.50).  He also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships and placed 15th at the national meet.

This past winter, Danner-Hicks earned All-American honors in the triple jump by placing sixth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with a mark of 47 feet, 2.50 inches (14.39 meters). The seven-time MASCAC champion (four indoor, three outdoor) also set the BSU indoor record in the triple jump earlier in the year at the ECAC Division III Championships with a distance of 48 feet, six inches (14.78 meters).

The outdoor season continues for the BSU men's track and field team on Saturday when the Bears compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University as well as the Eric Loeschner Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University.
