BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Stephan Cawley has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Co-Athlete of the Week. Cawley shares the weekly honor along with Westfield State's Travon Godette.

Cawley finished fifth in the discus throw and earned All-NEICAAA honors with a school record-setting toss of 156 feet, seven inches (47.72 meters) at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held this past weekend at Westfield State University.  The Dedham, Massachusetts product eclipsed his own mark of 155 feet, four inches (47.34 meters) set just recently at the Division III New England Championships

Cawley, who currently ranks 30th in all of Division III in the discus, helped Bridgewater record an eighth place finish at the meet.  The Bears notched 31 points, second only to Tufts University (38 pts.) among Division III schools.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU outdoor track and field teams will compete at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by RPI.
