Espinosa Garners All-American Honors in Long Jump

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Bridgewater State University junior Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) garnered All-American honors in the long jump during day one of the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University.

A native of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, Espinosa posted a distance of 22 feet, 11.75 inches (7.00 meters) to place seventh in the event.  The top eight place-winners earn All-American status.

Espinosa also finished 13th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.64 seconds.

On Friday evening at 6:45, sophomore Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) competes in the preliminaries of the 110-meter high hurdles.  The top eight finishers advance to the finals on Saturday afternoon at 2:40.

Senior Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) will compete in the triple jump on Saturday at noon.

Through day one of the national championship meet, the Bears' are tied for 22nd place in the team standings with two points. North Central College leads the way with 20 points.

Notes: Espinosa also captured All-American accolades with an eighth place finish (21.85 finals/21.77 prelims) in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships back in March.
