Men's Track & Field Places Second at Eric Loeschner Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's track & field team finished second at the Eric Loeschner Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday.

The Bears registered 137 points to finish behind WPI (222 pts.) in the team standings.

Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 47 feet, 4.5 inches (14.44 meters).

Christian Lavoie (Marion, Mass.) was the top thrower in the discus as he posted a mark of 137 feet, five inches (41.88 meters).  Lavoie also placed second in the shot put with a distance of 46 feet, 6.75 inches (14.19 meters).

Chris Naughton (Braintree, Mass.) captured top honors in the 400-meter dash (50.34), while Dallas O'Brien (Mansfield, Mass.) finished first in the 1,500-meter run (4:07.86), and Ben DiNobile (East Greenwich, R.I.) was the first to cross the line in the 10,000-meter run (36:37.32).

Declan Wirzburger (Hanson, Mass.) finished second in the discus (136'3"/41.52m) and third in the hammer throw (147'10"/45.07m).  Wirzburger qualified for the Division III New England Championships in both events.

Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) placed third in both the shot put (46'3.5"/14.11m) and the discus (133'9"/40.78m).

Ian Knapton (Mattapoisett, Mass.) finished second in the long jump (20'10.75"/6.37m) and third in the 400-meter dash (51.66).

Connor Foley (Foxborough, Mass.) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:07.30), Daniel Coulter (Norton, Mass.) second (16.36) and Justin Riley (Abington, Mass.) third (16.90) in the 110-meter hurdles, and Carlton Williamson (Easton, Mass.) fourth in the long jump (20'3"/6.17m) to round out the Bears' top place-winners.

The outdoor schedule resumes for the Bears on Saturday when they compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
