Three School Records Fall as Men's Track & Field Competes at BU Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Three school records were broken on Saturday as the Bears competed at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Joseph Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass) broke the school record in the 200-meter dash a couple of minutes after teammate Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass) broke it as well. The previous mark was 22.86 set in 2009 by Felix Mensah. Espinosa ran a 22.45, Danner-Hicks followed with a 22.36. Both qualified for the ECAC Championships.

Timothy Judge (East Bridgewater, Mass) broke the previous record in the 400-meter dash set in 2008 by Fernando Vieira. Judge ran a 50.80 eclipsing Vieira's mark of 51.30 and qualifying for the ECAC Championships.

The 4x400 relay team of Judge, Tom Coyle (Westwood, Mass), Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass), and Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass) broke the BSU school record set in 2012 of 3:28.60. The Bears' relay ran a time of 3:27.69 and just missed out on the ECAC Championships, due to time adjustments for the meet.

Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass) qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58. Goehring qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 500 meters with a time of 1:05.94, just missing breaking his own school record in the event.

Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass) had the only top-10 finish for the Bears, placing ninth in the shot put with a throw of 52 feet, 4.50 inches.

The Bears next compete at the Tufts Stampede, hosted by Tufts University on February 2. This will be the last meet before the MASCAC and Alliance Conference Championships.
