Four Bears Earn All-ECAC Honors at ECAC Track & Field Championships

TROY, N.Y. -- Four Bridgewater State University track and field athletes earned All-ECAC accolades during day one of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships held on Thursday at RPI.

Juniors Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) and Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.), senior Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) and sophomore Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) all placed in the top eight in their respective events to garner the honor.

Wahome finished second in the 10,000-meter run as he posted a personal-best time of 31:17.02.

Rouillard crossed the finish line third in the 10,000-meter run as she checked in at 37:08.41.  Rouillard is currently ranked 21st in Division III in the 10,000. 

Lagasse captured fifth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:03.43 as she was just over two seconds shy of her own school mark of 11:01.07 set earlier this season.  Lagasse is currently ranked 27th among Division III competitors in the steeplechase.

Danner-Hicks recorded a leap of 45 feet, 9.25 inches (13.95 meters) to finish fifth in the triple jump.

Senior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) is currently seventh in the heptathlon with 2,385 points after the first day of events. Robitaille finished fourth in the high jump (5'0.50"), sixth in the 200-meter dash (27.69 seconds) and eighth in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.63 seconds) and the shot put (27'6.75").

The BSU men's team is in ninth place with 11 points after day one.  MIT is first in the men's standings with 23 points followed by Moravian College (23 pts.) and Rowan University (23 pts.).  The women's squad is tied for tenth place with ten points. Ithaca leads with 31 points followed by MIT (22 pts.) and Wheaton College (20 pts.).
