GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass.) posted an impressive performance in the 55-meter hurdles to lead the Bridgewater State University Bears at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Indoor Championships held at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

Horan captured both the MASCAC and Alliance titles in the hurdles and also set a new BSU indoor record in the event.  He recorded a time of 7.88 seconds in the finals, breaking the previous school standard of 7.92 set by Anthony Nardozzi in 2006.  Horan's performance also qualified him for the ECAC Division III Championships.

The men's indoor team finished in fourth place in the MASCAC standings with 86 team points, and eighth in the Alliance standings with 34 points.  Westfield State University (219 points) captured the MASCAC title, while the University of Southern Maine (151 points) won the Alliance championship.

Fellow freshman Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) won the MASCAC title in the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, five inches (13.23m).  He also placed third in the Alliance results.
