DEDHAM, Mass. --- Junior long distance runner
Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) paced the
Bridgewater State men’s track and field team with a top
finish in the 10,000 meter run (33:49.01) as the Bears continued
their season at the Bernard Solomon Invitational held at
Northeastern University. The non scoring meet held at the Solomon
Track in Dedham featured athletes from around New England in all
collegiate divisions along with other participating track
clubs.
Freshman Michael Casely (Abington, MA) also led
BSC finishing fourth in the javelin (151-04), fifth in the long
jump (53.13), eighth in the 400 (53.13). Senior Nilton
Gomes (Fall River, MA) took home seventh in the triple
jump (38-04.75) and eighth in the 800 (2:03.29). Freshman
Sammie Ervan (Carver, MA) placed 13th in both the
100 (11.89) and the 200 (24.12).
Junior Brian Stewart (Scituate, MA) took 11th in
the 5000 (16:42.29) while freshman Christopher
Dagistino (Littleton, MA) registered 10th in the 400 meter
hurdles (1:02.58).
In the field, senior Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA)
finished fourth in the shot put (41-10.75) and ninth in the discus
(118-08) while junior Jason Williams (Bradford,
MA) threw a fifth place finish in the hammer (136-01) and 13th in
the discus (99-02).
Sophomore Matt Marden (Wilmington, MA) tallied
eighth in the javelin (133-10) and 13th in the shot put (31-10.25)
while first year Jake Ropoza (Berkley, MA) notched
seventh in the javelin (141-02) and ninth in the shot put (35-06).
Freshman Chris Kolentsas (Bridgewater, MA) also
placed 12th in the shot put (32-02.75).
In relay action, Bridgewater State’s 4 x 400 relay team
finished in third place and five seconds off the lead with a time
of 3:32.68.
BSC will compete this Saturday at the Springfield Invitational
which will be at Springfield College. The meet will begin at 11
A.M.
