BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Tom Ayson has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Ayson, who was making his collegiate debut, went 1-1 at second flight singles as well as 1-1 at number one doubles in two matches for the Bears last week. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product recorded a 6-3, 7-5 straight win at second singles and teamed with classmate Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) for an 8-1 victory at the the top doubles flight as the Bears opened conference play with a 7-2 triumph over VTSU Castleton.

The 2024 schedule continues this week for the BSU men's tennis team. The Bears (1-1, 1-0 LEC) entertain Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 and host Little East rival University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon at one.
