Men's Tennis Falls to UMass Boston in Little East Match

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to host UMass Boston in a Little East Conference match on Saturday afternoon. 

The host Beacons captured two of the three doubles flights and swept the six singles matches to secure the win.

UMass improves to 6-10 on the season and 4-1 in the Little East, while Bridgewater falls to 3-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

BSU juniors Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.) and Chris Jastrab (Chicago, Ill.) teamed up for a tough 9-8 win at first doubles. Trailing 8-7, the duo won the 16th game to even the match and then won the tie-breaker, 8-6.

Jack Wang (Suzhou, China) and Adhirath Bhatotia (New Delhi, India) cruised to an 8-1 victory at second doubles for UMass, while Zeke Hernandez (Baytown, Texas) and Guang Huang (Quincy, Mass.) earned a 9-7 decision at number three.

In singles play, Wang and Bhatotia won in straight sets at the third and fourth flights, respectively. The Beacons also received straight set wins from Austin DeLasse (Mexico City, Mexico), Josh Bhasin (Tulsa, Okla.), Sanshrut Sharma (Mumbai, India) and Vlad Leopard (Carnikava, Latvia) at flights one, two, five and six.

The Bears travel to Little East foe UMass Dartmouth on Thursday afternoon (3:30), while the Beacons head to Endicott College on Tuesday (3:30).
