Men's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to Southern Maine

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The visiting University of Southern Maine men's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Bridgewater State University in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Huskies remain unbeaten on the season as they improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Little East. The Bears slip to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Southern Maine captured two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles flights to come away with the win.

Freshmen Harrison Ryan (Halifax, Mass.) and Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) picked up the lone doubles point for the Bears' as the duo recorded an 8-3 decision at the third flight. BSU sophomore Zachary Mutti (Peabody, Mass.) won in straight sets at number six singles, 6-1, 6-3.

Senior Tyler Adams (Buxton, Maine) and junior Kyle Curley (Gorham, Maine) teamed up for an 8-1 win at first doubles for the Huskies, while senior Eric Berry-Sandelin (South Portland, Maine) and sophomore Samuel Holland (Falmouth, Maine) recorded an 8-1 triumph at the second flight.

In singles play, Adams, Curley, Berry-Sandelin, Holland and junior Sebastian Taylor (Auburn, Maine) all won in straight sets at the first through fifth flights, respectively.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to UMass Boston on Saturday for a one o'clock Little East match with the Beacons. The Huskies travel to Colby-Sawyer College tomorrow afternoon to take on the Chargers at four.
