Men's Tennis Downs Wheelock, 8-1

DORCHESTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over host Wheelock College on Monday night at the Sportsmen's Tennis Center.

The visiting Bears improve to 2-2 on the season with the win, while the Wildcats slip to 0-3.

Bridgewater won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles flights to secure the non-conference triumph.

In doubles play, the second flight team of Chris Jastrab (Chicago, Ill.) and Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) garnered an 8-4 win, while Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.) and Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.) earned a hard-fought 9-7 decision at number one. Andrew Narciso (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory at the third flight.

Narciso breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at number five singles, while Harrison Ryan (Halifax, Mass.) recorded the same result at the sixth flight. McGee (6-0, 6-2), Jastrab (6-3, 6-2) and Haley (6-4, 7-6) also won in straight sets at the first, second and fourth flights, respectively.

The Wildcats lone point came at third singles with Matthew Brown (Angola, Ind.) winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

The Bears open Little East Conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Salem State University to take on the Vikings at one. The Wildcats head to Lesley University on Thursday night (7:30) for a New England Collegiate Conference match with the Lynx.
