Men's Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision to Salem State in Season Finale

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The visiting Salem State University men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Bridgewater State University in Little East Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The matched marked the season finale for the host Bears who end the year with an overall record of 1-10 (0-6 LEC). The visiting Vikings improve to 5-9 on the season and 3-3 in the Little East.

Senior Sean Bleau (North Dighton, Mass.) paced the host Bears with a 6-4, 6-0 straight set win at the top singles flight. Bleau also teamed with junior Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.) for a 9-7 victory at first doubles.

Salem captured two of the three doubles matches with juniors Conner Erickson (Hubbardston, Mass.) and David Dluznieski (Auburn, Mass.) teaming for an 8-6 triumph at the second flight, and sophomore Luke Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.) and junior Robert Nadal pairing up for an 8-2 victory at number three.

In singles play, freshman John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.), Erickson, Hodgkins, Nadal and Dluznieski all posted straight set wins for the Vikings at the second through sixth flights, respectively.

Salem is seeded fourth in next week's Little East Tournament and will take on #5 Rhode Island College in first round action on Tuesday afternoon. Match time has yet to be determined.
