Men's Tennis Drops 9-0 Decision to UMass Dartmouth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The UMass Dartmouth men's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over host Bridgewater State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Corsairs improve to 3-6 on the season and 2-1 in the Little East, while the Bears slide to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

UMass captured all three double matches and each of the six singles flight to earn the win.

Junior Dan Chouinard (Westport, Mass.) battled back from set down to post a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over BSU senior Sean Bleau (North Dighton, Mass.) in the match-up of the top flight singles players. Chouinard also teamed with sophomore Corey Rafter (Franklin, Mass.) for an 8-3 win at first doubles.

UMD senior Ray Lawton (Fairhaven, Mass.) also won a tough three-set match at second singles as he edged BSU junior Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.), 7-5, 1-6, 6-0. Lawton also paired with junior Jake Jaskolka (Mattapoisett, Mass.) for an 8-1 triumph at second doubles.

Jaskolka, Rafter, junior Cory Hoi (Westerly, R.I.) and senior Malcolm Neville (Foxboro, Mass.) all won in straight sets for the Corsairs at the third through sixth flights, respectively. Neville and junior Andrew Burdick (Dartmouth, Mass.) rounded out the doubles scoring as the duo posted an 8-0 decision at the third spot.

The Bears host Curry College in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon at 3:30. The Corsairs entertain non-league foe Springfield College on Thursday afternoon also at 3:30.
