Men's Tennis Falls to Southern Maine in Regular Season Finale

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies defeated the Bridgewater State University Bears, 9-0, in a Little East Conference men's tennis match on Sunday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

With the win, Southern Maine earns its 12th straight victory to improve to 12-3 overall and finish its LEC regular season schedule undefeated at 6-0. With the loss, Bridgewater State falls to 3-11 and 1-5 in the conference.

The Huskies' earned the top seed as well as a first round bye in this week's Little East Conference Tournament.  Southern Maine will face the winner of the Rhode Island College vs. UMass Dartmouth match on Thursday.  Bridgewater State is the sixth seed and will travel to third-seed Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday.

USM captured all three doubles matches and each of the six singles flights led by sophomore Tyler Adams (Buxton, Maine).  Adams earned a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and paired with junior Scott Gagne (Lewiston, Mass.) for an 8-1 triumph at #1 doubles.
