Men's Tennis Falls to Wheaton, 9-0

NORTON, Mass. -- The Wheaton College men's tennis team posted a 9-0 decision against visiting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday night inside the Haas Athletic Center on the Beard Field House tennis courts.

The non-conference match was moved indoors due to weather concerns.

Wheaton (5-2) won all three doubles matches and each of the six singles flights.

In doubles play, sophomore Jonah Feit (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif.) turned in a hard-fought 8-4 victory at No. 1 over the Bears' top doubles tandem of senior Eric Johnson (Kington, Mass.) and sophomore Hung Huynh (Worcester, Mass.).

Senior Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and sophomore Will White (Nantucket, Mass.) battled to an 8-4 win at second double over the Bears' senior pairing of Cody Farrell (Scituate, Mass.)and Jesse Gotlib (Dartmouth, Mass.), while junior Lawrence Chan (Lincoln, R.I.) and freshman Alden Zeff (Stratham, N.H.) claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 3 against BSU sophomore Michael Mello (Dartmouth, Mass.) and freshman Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.).

Feit won by a score of 8-1 score at first singles, while Sharon collected an 8-2 triumph at No. 2. Sophomore David Gassen (Dusseldorf, Germany) secured an 8-2 victory at No. 3 and classmate Shreve Archer (Pebble Beach, Calif.) registered an 8-1 win at No. 4.

Jackson posted an 8-0 triumph at No. 6, while sophomore Jim Beaton (Groveland, Mass.) rounded out singles action at No. 6 with an 8-2 win.

Wheaton travels to Coast Guard on Saturday, March 29 for a NEWMAC matchup at 1 p.m. Bridgewater State (2-2) hosts Little East Conference foe Western Connecticut State University this Saturday at 1 p.m.
