Men's Tennis Falls to Clark, 8-1

WORCESTER, Mass. – Host Clark University snapped Bridgewater State's five-match winning streak with an 8-1 win over the visiting Bears in non-league men's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Corash Tennis Courts.

The Cougars improved to 9-6 with the victory, while Bridgewater State sees its record move to 8-2.

Clark got the ball rolling in doubles action, sweeping all three matches starting with Diego Angel (Lima Peru) and Antoine Martin (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) posting an 8-1 win at No. 1.

Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) and Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio) posted an 8-2 decision at No. 2 and Dan Hall (Sutton, Mass.) and Harris Rollinger (Lexington, Mass.) recorded an 8-1 win at No. 3.

The Cougars continued their impressive play with five wins in singles matches. Stein improved to 4-0 all-time at No. 1 singles as he won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Martin posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2, while Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) collected a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.  Rollinger was victorious at No. 4 with his 6-2, 6-3 decision, and Phillip Porter (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) wrapped up the Clark wins with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the sixth flight.

Bridgewater State picked up its lone win of the day at No. 5 where Eric Johnson (Kingston, Mass.) outlasted Hall, 7-5, 6-3.

The Cougars will face a stiff test on Friday when they visit Brandeis University, while the Bears host Suffolk University on Thursday.
