Men's Tennis Downs Gordon College, 6-3

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University claimed five of six matches in singles play to secure a 6-3 non-conference win over Gordon College in men's tennis action today at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

The Scots drop to 3-7 overall on the year while the Bears improve to 5-1 with the victory.

Gordon earned the edge in doubles action after Zach Hall (Sugarland, Texas) and Kenny Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) recorded an 8-6 decision at number one and Richie Armand (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Brandon Inkles (New York, N.Y.) won by the same score at the second flight.  BSU's freshman combination of Matt McLeod (Leicester, Mass.) and Alex McGannon (Fairhaven, Mass.) picked up the Bears lone doubles point with an 8-0 win at number three.

From there the day belonged to the Bears, who claimed straight-set wins in all matches but number one singles where the Scots' Hall posted a 6-1, 6-4 decision.  Garnering singles victories for the visitors were McLeod at the second flight, Jesse Gotlib (Dartmouth, Mass.) at number three, Cody Farrell (Scituate, Mass.) at the fourth flight, Sean Bleau (North Dighton, Mass.) at number five and Eric Johnson (Kingston, Mass.) at the sixth flight.

The Scots travel to nearby Endicott College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup on Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. while Bridgewater travels to Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College on Saturday, April 6 for a 1 p.m. start.
