Men's Tennis Falls to Wheaton, 8-1

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over Bridgewater State University in non-conference play on Tuesday evening at the Dr. Henry Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

Freshmen Jonah Feit (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Will White (Nantucket, Mass.) and juniors Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y.) were all double winners for Wheaton.

Feit and White combined for a No.1 doubles win by a score of 8-3, while Sharon and Terrace earned an 8-2 triumph at No.2 doubles.

Bridgewater State's freshman doubles team of Alex McGannon (Fairhaven, Mass.) and Hung Huynh (Worcester, Mass.) picked up the Bears' lone point of the day as they posted an 8-5 victory at the third flight.

In singles play, Feit recorded a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No.1 singles, while White claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No.3. Sharon earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the fourth flight and Terrace won by a score of 7-5, 6-0 at the sixth spot.

Freshman David Gassen (Dusseldorf, Germany) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at second singles, while Dennis Scarpa (Cheshire, Conn.) rounded out the group of winners for the Lyons with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No.5.

Wheaton (3-2) hosts Stonehill College, an NCAA Division II program, tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. on the Clark Tennis Courts. Bridgewater State (2-1) plays Wheelock College at the Winsor School in Boston, Mass. tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
