BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Jirat Saengthong has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Rookie Swimmer of the Week.

Saengthong placed first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.23 seconds in the Bears' season-opening meet against Division II Saint Michael's College. The Watertown, Massachusetts product also swam a leg on the Bears' winning 200 freestyle relay squad (1:29.91) in his collegiate debut as well as the second place 200 medley relay team (1:41.31). Saengthong posted a time of 21.90 seconds on his freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay.

Following the Bears' Alumni Meet on Friday night (6:30), the BSU swimming & diving teams will host Clark University on Saturday, October 28th at 2:00 PM.
