Willis, Santos, Anastasiades, Scalese Lead Men’s Swimming & Diving During Day Two of NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Seniors Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) and Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.), and freshmen Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and Thomas Scalese (Chelmsford, Mass.) garnered All-NEISDA honors to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team during the second day of the 2020 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships held at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

Willis placed fifth in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 26.24 seconds, while Anastasiades finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.67 seconds. Santos checked in at fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.00 seconds, and Scalese was eighth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.61.

Willis, Anastasiades, Santos and senior Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) recorded an All-NEISDA performance in the 400 medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 3:30.09 to place second in the event.

Flaherty also placed ninth in the 50 freestyle (22.29), while sophomore Bryan Abbott (Taunton, Mass.) and junior Casey Cross (Attleboro, Mass.) finished 12th (2:13.73) and 14th (2:15.04), respectively, in the 200 backstroke. Junior Devin Bombardier (Duxbury, Mass.) placed tenth in the 200 individual medley (2:13.92).

Senior Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) recorded a score of 242.50 points in the preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition as he is currently in eighth place in the event.

The Bears are currently in fifth place in the team standings with 147 points. The four-day championships meet continues on Saturday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
