KINGSTON, R.I. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team finished in third place at the 2018 NEISDA Championships on Sunday at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

The Bears wrapped up the four-day competition with 607 team points as the third place showing marked the highest in program history. Roger Williams University placed first at the meet with 965.5 points, while UMass Dartmouth followed in second place with 610 points.

On Sunday, sophomore Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) captured the individual title in the 200 breaststroke with a finals time of 2:06.04. Willis finished with three event wins at the meet.

Eight other Bears also garnered All-NEISDA honors.

Junior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) placed third in the 1,650 freestyle (17:03.41), while classmate Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) finished third in the 100 individual medley (56.41) and fellow junior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) posted a third-place showing in the three-meter diving competition (342.70 pts.). Sophomore Timucin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) added a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:03.48).

Freshman Quinn McAlear (Norton, Mass.), sophomore Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.), senior Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' All-NEISDA performers. McAlear in the 100 freestyle (49.19), Flaherty in the 200 butterfly (2:06.54), Medina in the 100 individual medley (57.73) and Santos in the 100 freestyle (49.29). McAlear, Flaherty and Medina all placed seventh in their respective events, while Santos finished eighth.

All told, the Bears set seven school records during the four-day championship meet and placed first in six different events.
