Men's 800 Free Relay Squad Sets School Mark at NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.), sophomore Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) and seniors Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) and Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.) set the school record in the 800 freestyle relay during the opening night of the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships held on Thursday at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

The foursome placed second in the event to earn All-NEISDA honors with a time of 7:12.05 as they eclipsed their own previous BSU standard of 7:12.30 set last season. The second place showing is the highest finish for a BSU relay team at the NEISDA Championships.

The Bridgewater State men's squad is in second place with 34 team points after day one. Roger Williams University leads the way with 40 points, while UMass Dartmouth rounds out the top three with 32 points.

The four-day championship event continues on Friday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
