Men's Swimming & Diving Wins Seven Events in 176-120 Setback to Bentley

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team won seven events in a 176-120 setback to Division II Bentley University on Wednesday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

Senior Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 200 breaststroke (2:15.10) and the 100 individual medley (55.92). Smith also swam a leg on the Bears' winning 200 medley relay squad along with sophomore Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), freshman Quinn McAlear (Norton, Mass.) and senior Max Medina (Marion, Mass.). The quartet posted a time of 1:39.34.

Willis was also the first to touch the wall in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.63).

Sophomore Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) placed first in the 50 freestyle, while junior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 218.90 points.

The Bears' foursome of Santos, McAlear, junior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) and sophomore Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.68).

The Bears (6-5) are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Regis College for a tri-meet featuring the host Pride and Husson University.
