Men's Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

KEENE, N.H. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet hosted by Keene State College on Saturday.

The Bears (6-4) posted a 131-100 victory over host Keene State and dropped a 123-112 decision to Brandeis University.

Senior Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 200 individual medley (2:00.21) and the 200 backstroke (2:00.34). Smith also swam the opening leg on the Bears' first place 400 medley relay squad along with sophomore Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), freshman Quinn McAlear (Norton, Mass.) and sophomore Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 3:40.20.

Junior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) won both the one-meter (207.40 pts.) and three-meter (204.15 pts.) diving competitions.

Sophomore Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) was the first to touch the wall in the 50 freestyle (23.01). Flaherty also anchored the Bears' 200 freestyle relay team which also featured Santos, junior Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and senior Max Medina (Marion, Mass.). The squad posted a first-place time of 1:32.17 to close out the meet.

In upcoming action, the Bears host Division II Bentley University on Wednesday evening at six.
