Richard Smith Named NEISDA Swimmer of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University junior Richard Smith has been selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Male Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.

Smith placed first in both the 100 backstroke and the 100 individual medley at the BSU Bears Invitational this past weekend. The Milford, Massachusetts product posted a time of 58.01 seconds in the 100 back and 58.50 seconds in the 100 IM.

Smith is currently ranked second in the NEISDA in both the 100 IM and the 400 IM, and third in the 200 IM. He is also fifth in both the 100 back and 50 butterfly. 

The BSU men's swimming & diving team is off until Friday, February 17th when they compete at the three-day NEISDA Division II/III Championships. Eighteen members of the squad have qualified for the championship meet.
