Smith, Rose, Santos Lead Men's Swimming & Diving Past Clark, 133.5-102.5

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.), sophomore Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) and freshman Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) each won three events to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team to a 133.5-102.5 victory over visiting Clark University on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears, who placed first in nine of the 13 events, improve to 2-3 in dual meet competition, while the Cougars fall to 0-1.

Smith, Santos, sophomore Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) and freshman Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:41.13).

Smith also captured top honors in 200 individual medley (2:01.32) and the 200 breaststroke (2:13.27), while Santos placed first in both the 50 freestyle (23.08) and the 100 freestyle (51.28).

Rose was the first to touch the wall in the 1,000 freestyle (10:35.00) and the 200 butterfly (2:08.97). He also swam a leg on the Bears' winning 200 freestyle relay squad (1:33.18) along with juniors Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) and Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Bryceon Snowman (Pace, Fla.).

Medina added a win in the 200 backstroke (2:13.69).

The Bears are off until next Saturday when they travel to Gordon College for a one o'clock meet with the Fighting Scots.
