Smith, Willis, Rose Lead Men's Swimming & Diving Against Boston College

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior Richard Smith (Milford, Mass.) won three events to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team against Division I Boston College on Friday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

As a team, the Bears posted six first-place finishes with Smith leading the way with his three.

Smith was the first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly (54.03), the 100 backstroke (55.15) and the 400 individual medley (4:25.48).

Freshman Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) captured a pair of events as he grabbed top honors in both the 50 breaststroke (28.55) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.08). 

Sophomore Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) tied BC freshman Brendan Gatward (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) in the 50 backstroke as they both touched the wall in a time of 26.67 seconds. He also placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:05.16).

Rose, Willis, Smith and Max Medina also finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:41.44).

Rose, Medina, junior  Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) added a second place performance in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.39).

Boston College won the meet by a score of 163.5 to 108.5.

The Bears (0-1) are off until Saturday, October 29th when they travel to Regis College to take on the Pride at 11:00 AM.
