Men's Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

WESTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team split a tri-meet hosted by Regis College on Saturday.

The Bears earned a 190-25 win over Husson University and dropped a 173-96 decision to the host Pride.

Freshman Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.) captured top honors in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.66 seconds. Rose garnered a b-cut qualification to the ECAC Division III Championships in the event.

Rose also placed second in the 50 freestyle (23.41) and swam a leg on a pair of second place relay squads.

The Bears' 200 medley relay team of Rose, classmate Robert McDougall (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), sophomore Max Medina (Marion, Mass.) and senior Eric Ford (Oakville, Conn.) posted a time of 1:45.58.

Rose, McDougall, Medina and sophomore Benjamin O'Connor (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded a time of 1:33.35 in the in the 200 freestyle relay.

Medina also finished second in both the 50 backstroke (27.60) and the 100 freestyle (51.78), while Ford placed second in the 50 breaststroke (29.98).

Junior Kyle Medeiros (Lakeville, Mass.) in the 200 freestyle (2:00.04) and sophomore Andrew Hebert (Lincoln, R.I.) in the 200 individual medley (2:17.69) rounded out the Bears' second place performers.

Next Friday, the Bears will host the BSU "Last Gasp" Open Invitational.
